Company Turning Pollution to Animal Feed Lands £3million Investment

Innovate UK is funding the development of the project.

A lab in Yorkshire, Deep Branch Biotechnology, who developed a recycling method that turns CO2 into animal feed has secured £3million in funding from Innovate UK to develop their innovation further.

Using carbon dioxide waste from a nearby power plant, their carbon-to-protein tech turns emissions into food for fish and livestock.  Scientists believe that the process, if successful, could make meat consumption greener and reduce the impact of emissions from agriculture.

According to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation, livestock are responsible for 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Innovate UK provides grants to companies that are working on projects that will develop something that can be classed as a technological innovation.
