The Gott for Good programme was first launched in 2019 by Joel Gott, a fourth-generation wine maker from California, who has partnered with 200 food banks across the nation this holiday season.
According to Feeding America, 57% of Americans have had to choose between paying for housing and food. This has obviously been exacerbated by Covid-19, however food insecurity is a huge ongoing issue in both third and first world countries alike. British footballer, Marcus Rashford, made recent headlines with his passionate free school meals campaign here in the UK. His petition exceeded 1 million signatures and garnered support from local restaurants and cafes who provided meals instead, forcing Prime Minister Boris Johnson into a U-turn on his original decision.
Mr Gott says “this year is nothing as anyone expected and so many people across the world have been faced with so many unforeseen challenges, which makes our mission through Gott for Good that much more significant.”
