A community group from one of the most deprived housing estates in Bristol have raised £4 million to fund a huge wind turbine that will enable them to sell electricity back to National Grid, generating approx. £100,000 a year.
Ambition Lawrence Weston charity, founded by local Mark Pepper, plans to use the funds to regenerate the area and support families in the area trapped in poverty. The locally owned turbine will measure a staggering 150ft.
It will be erected on council-owned scrubland in Avonmouth, with works beginning in June and expected to be completed next spring.
