Natural History GCSE Approved!

The topic could be taught to 14 -16 years old from as early as 2025.

The Department for Education has approved backing for the introduction of a brand new GCSE in Natural History, it has been confirmed.

According to moderating body OCR, pupils will develop a rigorous understanding of the natural world: from their own local wildlife, environment and ecosystem to critical global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity and sustainability.

The course will help young people to connect with wildlife and develop a deeper engagement with biodiversity and sustainability – vital in encouraging future generations to protect the planet. The proposal is already being dubbed a ‘game-changer’.
