Burger King has become the first fast food restaurant in the UK to trial reusable and returnable packaging.
The company announced its partnership with global re-use platform Loop to introduce a scheme in an initial five selected branches. Customers will have the option to pay a small deposit for a reusable cup or container instead of using throwaway packaging. The pilot will offer the option on 10 Burger King products that can be served in the Loop reusable packaging.
All returned cups or containers are then professionally cleaned.
The project is the latest in delivering 41% reduction in chain emissions per restaurant by 2030.
