Morrisons Eco Store Opens!

The supermarket chain has opened its first low impact store.

Morrisons has opened its first low impact eco store in Little Clacton, Essex, which is expected to have 43% lower operational emissions than a standard store and holds the potential to be scaled up across the country.

Adaptations include a low carbon impact building, next generation fridges powered by CO2 from agricultural waste, roof solar panels (providing a fifth of energy!), rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing, a near zero waste back-of-house system, and facilities to recycle customers’ waste.  The store also offers locally sourced products and implements a full range of biodiversity schemes,
