Fans have waited patiently for new wildlife material from the legend that is David Attenborough…
And the production of his new BBC show, ‘Wild Isles’, does not disappoint!
With super-high definition footage focusing on the beauty, wonder and destruction of wildlife on British doorsteps, the series shines a light on what the UK is set to lose if conservation efforts do not expand to include more of our natural spaces.
The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and despite nature struggling against all odds to survive, more than one in seven native species face extinction and more than 40% are in decline. (WWF) The series is set to be vitally important in educating Brits on the issues on their doorstep and inspiring more people to appreciate and take action for wildlife in their own environments.
The 5-part series has already been the subject of controversy, with a 6th episode addressing wildlife destruction across the UK not set for broadcast. It is instead only available to view on BBC iPlayer. The decision was made to share the episode in this way as to not provoke certain ‘lobbying groups’ by broadcasting politically charged issues.
You can catch Wild Isles on Sunday evenings at 7pm on BBC, or all episodes on BBC iPlayer.
